Hi everyone. Sorry for the late post, I was on vacation and I did not have my computer. So I couldn't make this post. Anyway, this was a decent week for the countdown. Biggest Jump of the Week: Post Malone - Better Now (+19)

New Entrants
~We got two songs debuting directly on to the countdown this week. The first of those comes from Khalid and ex-Fifth Harmony member Normani making her debut with Love Lies. This song has been around for a while, but Hits 1 are not fans of Khalid in the slightest so it took them a while. I really like this one. The production is chill but it works well. Both of the singers sound very good together. The song has been gaining on pop radio and Billboard so I hope it sticks around here for a while.

~For once, Hits 1 picked up on the biggest song in the country pretty quickly. In My Feelings is a continuation of Drake's dominance throughout the year. Scorpion as an album was really bad, but In My Feelings was one of the better songs. Drake sounds pretty good singing, and the production at the start is pretty good. At the end, the samples from Lil Wayne and Magnolia Shorty are really weird but it works. This song is everywhere, so I don't know how long this will last with me.

~Lastly, we have Imagine Dragons who seem to have given up on their Evolve album as they released a brand new single called Natural. The production on the track is decent, but Dan Reynolds doesn't sound good. The screaming does not work at all. But if it can make Whatever It Takes drop faster I'll take it. I could grow into this, but I doubt it. Unfortunately, as it's by Imagine Dragons, it will almost certainly hit #1.

Best Debut of the Week: Khalid/Normani - Love Lies (#39)

Hit-Bound:
  • Dennis Lloyd - Nevermind
  • PRETTYMUCH - Summer On You (DEBUT)
  • Big Boi - All Night
  • Dan + Shay - Tequila
  • Bebe Rexha - I'm A Mess
  • Justin Timberlake - SoulMate
  • Zedd/Elley Duhé - Happy Now (DEBUT)
  • Train/Cam/Travie McCoy - Call Me Sir
  • The Chainsmokers/Emily Warren - Side Effects (DEBUT)
  • Years & Years - If You're Over Me
  • Brown & Gray - Top Down
  • Charlie Puth - The Way I Am
  • lovelytheband - broken
  • Ariana Grande - God Is A Woman
  • Weezer - Africa (DEBUT)
~PRETTYMUCH is back after they failed to graduate from hit-bound last year. Summer On You is kinda fun, but also a chill song. As it looks like it'll be debuting next week, I'll talk more about it then.

~Happy Now is a step up from The Middle. Elley Duhé sounds great. Zedd's production is pretty good, but still not his best. I don't really mind that this song isn't "EDM" and that it's just pop, and I don't think that just because there's a producer who's credited on the track doesn't mean that it can't be EDM. I hope this song does well here.

~The Chainsmokers released their first really great song in a while. They collaborate with Emily Warren (again) and she sounds pretty great. The production is nowhere near that of Roses, Something Just Like This, etc. but it's better than they're recent stuff. I don't like the lyrics here, however. More on this when it debuts.

~We have a crossover hit from alt-nation with Africa by Weezer. They didn't change the song like at all, so I don't really get why this is such a big hit on alt-nation. I'm pretty sick of it honestly. But I guess it's okay for now.

~We lost three songs this week. FAKE LOVE seems to be gone for good and I couldn't care less. Somebody left for Side Effects, but I think the former could still come back. Lastly, we lost Jump. I hate Julia Michaels and that song was just annoying. I don't care if it doesn't come back.

My Top 5 Hit-Bound Picks:
1. Dennis Lloyd - Nevermind
2. Brown & Gray - Top Down
3. PRETTYMUCH - Summer On You
4. Charlie Puth - The Way I Am
5. The Chainsmokers/Emily Warren - Side Effects

Kiki, Do You Blurb Me
~As far as our exits go, I will not miss Zombie in the slightest. Unfortunately, I think it might have a shot at making the year-end list for Hits 1. Perfect had a very good countdown run, and it's a sweet song, but it was overplayed really badly. Lastly, Psycho was unsurprisingly underrated by Hits 1.

~Speaking of overplay, Delicate, Youngblood and High Hopes are getting played way too much. I'm not sure how long any of these will last with me now.

~Better Now took a massive jump into the top 20. This is one of Post's best songs yet, but it doesn't quite top Candy Paint. His vocals sound pretty good, and the lyrics aren't as obnoxious as usual. On the other hand, Too Good took a big drop after it's jump last week. Just for the record, I don't hate this song. I just think it's very mediocre. And since it's not popular elsewhere I don't really care that it's flopping.

~A couple of other songs took some big jumps. Growing Pains jumped up 13 because Hits 1 loves Alessia Cara for unclear reasons. Seriously, she has yet to do anything that isn't mediocre. On the other hand, Colour jumped up 14. It's pretty enjoyable and both MNEK and Hailee Steinfeld sound pretty good. I wouldn't mind seeing this in the top 20.

~Whatever It Takes is out of the top 5 for the first time in what feels like forever. As you can see, I am extremely tired of this one. It has spent way too much time here and it needs to drop as soon as possible.

~Weirdly, The Last Of The Real Ones held its position despite Fall Out Boy hosting the countdown. I guess they were really only there to promote their Wrigley Field show.

~Fall Out Boy mentioned a couple of times that they were really happy for Bebe Rexha and the fact that she finally got a big hit. Despite most people here hating Meant To Be, I'm happy to see it do well, even if it was overrated.

~Pray For Me took a pretty big fall. If this exits soon, I won't be that sad. It was a good song, but it hung around a little too long. Speaking of falls, I Like Me Better is finally in the bottom five. Let's get this one out of here as soon as possible.

~DJ Khaled recently released a new single with Justin Beiber, Quavo, and Chance the Rapper hoping for a #1 debut on Billboard. The track has actually been airing on Hits 1, and they didn't edit Quavo out. Also, when X by Nicki Jam and J Balvin aired, they kept J Balvin in. I'm hoping these are both sings that Hits 1 can stop with their awful radio edits.
