48. XXXTENTACION - Sad!
Weeks At #1: 1 (6/30/18)
Year-End Position: N/A
There were really only two possible songs that could fill this bottom spot. Maybe it's just that I'm more frustrated with this one at the moment that pushes it down. Anyways, there is nothing appealing about this song in the slightest. I never liked X's brand of mumble-rap, and it's only worse in this song. The lyrics are just awful, where he threatens that if someone breaks up with him he'll kill himself. The production is a terrible trap beat with nothing special in the slightest. It is fucked up that he died young. But that doesn't make this song good, or a deserving #1.
47. Desiigner - Panda
Weeks At #1: 2 (5/7/16-5/14/16)
Year-End Position: #6
This is the other song that I considered for the bottom spots. Frankly, Desiigner belongs nowhere near a microphone. His voice is atrocious. Frankly, I think is mumble-rap is worse than X's. That yelling is the background is intolerable. The lyrics are non-sensical, which frankly saves it from being in the bottom spot, as I take more issue with the awful lyrics of Sad!. Once again, it has a generic trap beat with nothing special to it. I heard that when Desiigner wrote the hook to this he was planning on selling it to another rapper. I wish he had as it would have saved us from this mess.
46. Taylor Swift - Look What You Made Me Do
Weeks At #1: 3 (9/16/17-9/30/17)
Year-End Position: #39
I really don't have that much to say about this song that hasn't already been said. This was a terrible choice for a comeback single, as was shown by her future singles from the album. I kinda like the pre-chorus, but then we get that awful chorus of Taylor mumbling the title of the saying over and over again. Then after that first chorus... it becomes even more of a mess. With her going from whispering to yelling in the second verse, to that bridge, and then to the just plain weird and failed attempt to be dark part about the "Old Taylor". This was made as a kiss-off to her haters and all of her beefs, but frankly everyone made better songs about her. Taylor, you're better than this.
45. Rihanna/Drake - Work
Weeks At #1: 9 (3/5/16-4/30/16)
Year-End Position: #4
Don't get me wrong: I think Rihanna does have a good voice and is capable of making good songs. This shows neither ability. I have no clue what she's saying in this song, as her diction is just terrible. She uses none of her range and sings "work" in a monotone for half the damn song. Drake delivers some of the flattest flows of his whole career, which is saying a lot for him. The fact that this was #1 for 9 weeks is just insane and frankly pretty disappointing. I know people who are fans of this and I've heard what they have to say and... no. I just can't. This isn't good at all.
44. Katy Perry/Juicy J - Dark Horse
Weeks At #1: 4 (2/8/14-3/1/14)
Year-End Position: 2
Katy Perry is one of those artists who peaked a while ago and she's just been going downhill since. The song actually has a decent crescendo which it then ruins with that weird, annoying voice that goes "there's no going back". The production is flat-out annoying. I'm not totally sure Katy Perry understands the concept of a "dark horse", which is an unexpected underdog. A.K.A. not Katy Perry. She's been topping the charts for years, which just makes the whole concept of the song a waste of time. Don't even get me started on Juicy J's verse, where he repeatedly fails to hype Katy Perry up. The fact that this was the #2 song of 2014 is not a good thing. Katy Perry, you've done better than this. The sad thing is this was probably her last ever #1.
43. ZAYN - PILLOWTALK
Weeks At #1: 1 (2/20/16)
Year-End Position: #22
I totally understand why this hit #1. It was Zayn's debut, so tons of people were buying it and streaming it, radio got on board quickly and it got the #1 debut. And it spent only one week there. But the problem is: the song isn't good at all. The production is choppy, and the lyrics are generic and a blatant metaphor for sex. Zayn sounds decent in some parts of the song, but his falsetto is not good. I can kinda understand why someone would like this, but it's not my thing.
42. Migos/Lil Uzi Vert - Bad and Boujee
Weeks At #1: 3 (1/21/17, 2/4/17-2/11/17)
Year-End Position: #6
I really shouldn't have to explain this one. While I do consider myself a Migos fan, this is far from their best work. First of all, they decided to not give Takeoff a verse in favor of Lil Uzi Vert who sounds terrible. Seriously, though I didn't mind XO TOUR Llif3, he sounds terrible here. Then, the production is another lazy trap beat. The verses drag way too long, with the song clocking in at nearly 6 minutes. The lyrics are just generic luxury brag rap, including repeatedly putting down women. The fact that this became a #1 hit over Lorde who had one of the best damn albums of last year is pretty sad if you ask me.
41. Meghan Trainor - All About That Bass
Weeks At #1: 8 (9/20/14-11/8/14)
Year-End Position: #8
This is easily one of the most divisive songs in recent memory. With the fans of it being very vocal, and the haters being even more vocal, this song (somehow) topped the charts for 8 weeks. Me personally, I land somewhere in the middle. The song is pretty annoying, through the production and Meghan's vocals. I cannot stress this enough: she does not sounds good here. Meanwhile, we have the semi-controversial lyrics of the song. I really don't want to get into them too deeply, but they're certainly weird. So what keeps this song from being awful? It's just plain fun. This song should not work at all, but it kinda does. For better or for worse, this one definitely put Meghan Trainor on the map.
40. Iggy Azalea/Charli XCX - Fancy
Weeks At #1: 7 (6/7/14-7/19/14)
Year-End Position: #4
Honestly, the most interesting thing to discuss about this song is Iggy Azalea herself. Yes, her "gangster" act is very fact. Including that accent. But she just has... presence on the microphone, unlike our bottom 2 artists. The lyrics are basic luxury rap, so nothing special. The production is fine, I guess. But Charlie XCX is the real stand out of this track. She sounds great, and can honestly sell the persona much better than Iggy Azalea can. Fancy was huge, yes, but it seems like Iggy Azalea has faded in obscurity now. And frankly, I'm not totally sure that's a bad thing.
39. John Legend - All Of Me
Weeks At #1: 3 (5/17/14-5/31/14)
Year-End Position: #3
Ok, I can tell that not many of you will agree with this. But this song is just so boring. Yes, it's sweet. Yes, John Legend sounds decent. I'm sorry, but I just get so bored listening to this one. I guess 2014 wasn't that great a year for music, as we got four songs from it in the bottom 10. Fun fact: this song had the longest ever climb to #1. It took this song 30 weeks to get there. And honestly, I wouldn't have minded if this never made it. Sorry, but this is mediocre at best.
I hope you all enjoyed this. I'll do some more tomorrow!

Interesting idea. If I remember, I’ll post my whole list in the comments on the last set
