Twenty One Pilots (1) - Alt-8 Week of 8/25/18

Hi everyone. This was a pretty interesting week on the alt-8. Let's not waste any time on the intro and get right into our exits:

  • Weezer - Africa (#7) [6 Weeks At #1]
  • Two Feet/Madison Love - Hurt People (#6)
  • King Princess - 1950 (#5) [x6]
  • Twenty One Pilots - Jumpsuit (#3) [x2]
  • CHVRCHES - Miracle (#2) [x3]
8. LSD - Genius (#1) [-7] {5 Weeks At #1}
7. Billie Eilish - you should see me in a crown (DEBUT)
6. Marshmello/Bastille - Happier (DEBUT)
5. Dennis Lloyd - Nevermind (#8) [+3]
4. Rex Orange County/Benny Sings - Loving Is Easy (RE-ENTRY)
3. Death Cab for Cutie - Gold Rush (#4) [+1]
2. AJR - Burn The House Down (RE-ENTRY)
1. Twenty One Pilots - Nico And The Niners (RE-ENTRY)

New Entrants
~Three returners: Burn The House Down is extremely unwelcome here. Please leave again. I couldn't care less about Loving Is Easy. And Nico And The Niners is back at #1. I think that this is better than Jumpsuit, so I'm glad to see it here.

~Happier is weird. I think the production is one of Marshmello's better jobs. However, the vocals are what really kill it for me. I don't think Bastille sound good with EDM production. I'll talk more about this in the Hits 1 post.

~Billie Eilish is the newest of one of my least favorite trends: Lorde-wannabes. Don't get me wrong: I love Lorde. But her knock-offs (Alessia Cara, Julia Michaels, etc.) basically always disappoint. And Billie Eilish is not different. you should see my in a crown isn't very good, as it is a blatant attempt to re-create Lorde's Team (one of all-time favorites). But yeah this just isn't very good. It's ok at best.

Best Debut/Re-Entry of the Week: Twenty One Pilots - Nice And The Niners (#1)

you should see me in a blurb
~Wow. After 4 straight weeks at #1 Genius drops all the way to the bottom of the countdown. I do hope this sticks around for a bit longer at least.

~Nevermind entered the top five. This is my favorite song here, and on of favorites overall right now.

~I'm pretty glad that Africa left. Hurt People was good, but likely wouldn't stick with me for long. 1950 will be back next week don't worry. Jumpsuit and Miracle both had shorter return runs, but I doubt this is the end for either.
