New Entrants
~We got five new songs on the countdown this week. The lowest debut also happens to be Spyder Harrison's favorite of the debuts, in Just My Type by The Vamps. I really like this song. I think that the vocals here are really the part of the song that shines the most. I think that these guys have really great voices. The production here is also fantastic. While the lyrics aren't fantastic, I enjoy the rest of this song enough to call it the best debut of the week.

~God Drew Barrymore is boring. The beat is nothing except annoyingly plinking, and then weird synths later on. His vocals aren't very good. Honestly the whole song is just so mediocre and unspeical (Blogger is telling me that isn't a real word). This became a weirdly big hit on pop radio, as I don't understand who would actually want to listen to this when they put the radio on. I'm hoping this flops here.

~Heart To Break grew on me a ton during the week, where I heard it a lot on Hits 1. Kim Petras's vocals are just fantastic. This is one of the best vocal performances I've heard all year honestly. The beat is also really great. I think it fits her voice really well. I don't really get the lyrics, but from what I understand they're solid. This had better do well here.

~2002 is a huge step-up from FRIENDS, one of my most hated songs of the whole year so far. I think Anne-Marie's vocals have improved a ton. I actually like the lyrics, as I think the song references make the song a lot more fun. You can tell that Ed Sheeran co-wrote this. The production here is also very solid. I hope this does well here.

~"Panic! At The Disco had the highest debut on Hits 1, even when the song isn't a single? I'm shocked!" - Absolutely no one ever. (I will give this song a full review when it actually becomes a single).

Best Debut of the Week: The Vamps - Just My Type (#40)

Hit-Bound
  • Loud Luxury/brando - Body
  • Twenty One Pilots - My Blood (DEBUT)
  • Jason Derulo & David Guetta/Nicki Minaj/Willy William - Goodbye
  • The Chainsmokers/Kelsea Ballerini - This Feeling (DEBUT)
  • The Struts/Kesha - Body Talks
  • benny blanco/Halsey/Khalid - Eastside
  • Calvin Harris/Sam Smith - Promises
  • Walk The Moon - Kamikaze
  • Tiësto & Dzeko/Preme/Post Malone - Jackie Chan
  • Silk City/Dua Lipa - Electricity
  • Pitbull/Theron Theron - Free Free Free
  • Shawn Mendes/Zedd - Lost In Japan (Remix) (DEBUT)
  • Alex Aiono - Big Mistake (DEBUT)
  • Ariana Grande - breathin' (DEBUT)
~My Blood is personally my least favorite of what Twenty One Pilots have released from Trench so far. I find it to be good, but nothing great. I like the vocals, but the production lacks something that makes it truly great.

~This Feeling is amazing. I absolutely love everything about this song. From the great vocals courtesy of Kelsea and Andrew Taggart to the solid production to the surprisingly well written lyrics, this song really impressed me. I hope it does better than Side Effects did, as that one kinda flopped everywhere but here.

~The original version of Lost In Japan is one of the best, if not the best, from Shawn Mendes's self titled album. But this remix takes away everything good about the original. The great guitars and pianos are replaced by Zedd's infamous ticking clock. He puts tons of unnecessary layers onto Shawn's vocals, drowning them in autotune as he likes to do to his singers. But of course this is the version that's becoming a hit. Wonderful...

~I only listened to Big Mistake once, but it was pretty catchy. I'll give this a full review if it debuts, which I honestly doubt it will.

~breathin' might be the best off of Sweetener. First of all, I much prefer the production here to the trap beat of God is a woman, and I also like the lyrics a lot more. This is basically locked to debut eventually, so I'll share more thoughts on it then.

My Top 5 Hit-Bound Picks
1. benny blanco/Halsey/Khalid - Eastside
2. The Chainsmokers/Kelsea Ballerini - This Feeling
3. Tiësto & Dzeko/Preme/Post Malone - Jackie Chan
4. The Struts/Kesha - Body Talks
5. Ariana Grande - breathin'

Drew Blurbymore
~Starting as usual with our exits, In My Feelings was bound to flop here because Hits 1 logic. The radio-edit of I Like It sucked so I don't care about that one. Home With You had faded on me, as had Summer On You. But the exit that really saddens me is Nevermind. This song was amazing in every way, and you can probably expect it to be in my top 10 songs come year-end list season. Nevermind, you will be missed.

~I honestly thought Solo would have a good run based on that decent debut. But clearly, I was wrong as it falls 16 spots right into the bottom 5 this week. I can't say I'm complaining though.

~Three other songs made their debuts in the bottom 5 this week. No Brainer hit the very bottom of the countdown as Hits 1 doesn't care for any of the artists involved. Sit Next To Me had a good run and will probably make the year-end list. And FRIENDS has already been here way too long.

~I'm very impressed that On The Loose is still here.

~The gains for Top Down clearly did not last, as it falls down 10 spots this week. This will probably exit next week, which is really too bad.

~broken and Africa also took drops this week. I can't say I'm sad about Africa, but seeing broken fall like that is too bad. However, I can say that I am very surprised by both of these falls. I thought that they would have longer tenures.

~If Call Me Sir and Burn The House Down could keep falling that would be nice.

~Only jumps worth mentioning are Almost Love and Thunderclouds getting solid week 2 boosts, and Lie undeservadly receiving the biggest jump. Can we not let this song become a hit?

~The Middle needs to leave the top 10 asap. However, we did get Back To You and The Way I Am back in the top 10 which in nice. Don't Go Breaking My Heart hits a scary new peak of #3, and High Hopes holds onto the #1 spot, even if it really shouldn't be there.

~Ok, I think that's everyth-

Wait a second. Say Amen is out of the top 10!?!!? Finally!!!!
