Hi everyone. For once, I'm actually really excited to make this post. There was good movement on most charts, and we got two solid albums debuting on the Billboard 200. Let's get right into it.
Hot 100
Out of the top 10:
22. Machine Gun Kelly - RAP DEVIL (#13) [-9]
20. Ella Mai - Boo'd Up (#16) [-4]
19. Lil Baby/Drake - Yes Indeed (#20) [+1]
18. Selena Gomez - Back To You (#19) [+1]
17. Ariana Grande - God is a woman (#16) [-1]
16. DJ Khaled/Justin Bieber/Quavo/Chance The Rapper - No Brainer (#12) [-4]
15. Drake - Nonstop (#17) [+2]
14. Imagine Dragons - Natural (#15) [+1]
13. Eminem/Joyner Lucas - Lucky You (#18) [+5]
12. Tyga/Offset - Taste (#9) [-3]
11. Khalid/Normani - Love Lies (#10) [-1]
10. 5 Seconds of Summer - Youngblood (#11) [+1]
9. Travis Scott - SICKO MODE (#8) [-1]
8. 6ix9ine/Nicki Minaj/Murda Beatz - FEFE (#7) [-1]
7. Kanye West & Lil Pump/Adele Givens - I Love It (#6) [-1]
6. Cardi B/Bad Bunny/J Balvin - I Like It (#3) [-3] {1 Week At #1}
5. Post Malone - Better Now (#4) [-1]
4. Juice WRLD - Lucid Dreams (#5) [+1]
3. Eminem - Killshot (DEBUT)
2. Drake - In My Feelings (#1) [-1] {10 Weeks At #1}
1. Maroon 5/Cardi B - Girls Like You (#2) [+1] {1st Week At #1}
~Wow lots to talk about here. First of all, our only dropout comes from Machine Gun Kelly's RAP DEVIL as space was needed for the better diss track. This one isn't going to be here much longer.
~The fact that Boo'd Up and Yes Indeed are still here shocks me.
~We finally have a new #1 song. And it's very deserving. Girls Like You has been in the top 5 so long I thought it had lost it's chance to be #1. But I guess I was wrong (not that I'm compelling)!
~Only one new entrant and it comes from Eminem, responding to RAP DEVIL with a song that's a million times better. I much prefer the lyrically content of Killshot, as Em continues to prove himself as a very talented lyricist. HIs flow is so much better than MGK's is not even a competition. The production is also way better here. I could do without the shots at Puff Daddy but there not the worst thing in the world.
Billboard 200
Out of the top 10:
66. $uicideBoy$ - I Want To Die In New Orleans (#9) [-57]
33. Russ - ZOO (#4) [-29]
16. Lauren Daigle - Look Up Child (#3) [-13]
12. Mac Miller - Swimming (#6) [-6]
10. Juice WRLD - Goodbye & Good Riddance (#12) [+2]
9. Nicki Minaj - Queen (#11) [+2]
8. Paul McCartney - Egypt Station (#1) [-7] {1 Week At #1}
7. Ariana Grande - Sweetener (#10) [+3] {1 Week At #1}
6. Post Malone - beerbongs & bentleys (#8) [+2] {3 Weeks At #1}
5. Travis Scott - ASTROWORLD (#7) [+2] {2 Weeks At #1}
4. Drake - Scorpion (#5) [+1] {5 Weeks At #1}
3. 6LACK - East Atlanta Love Letter (DEBUT)
2. Eminem - Kamikaze (#2) [=] {1 Week At #1}
1. Carrie Underwood - Cry Pretty (DEBUT) {1st Week At #1}
~Juice's and Nicki's less than great albums come back to the top 10 due to four albums having serious drops. $uicideBoy$ are never coming back (thank God), Russ is gone, the impact of Mac Miller's death has faded, though I could see Lauren Daigle's album rebounding as at the time of this writing it is #1 on iTunes.
~I was pleasantly surprised by both our debuts this week, including 6LACK's. The album is only good instead of great as I did get a little bored towards the end of it, but I was studying while I listened to this and it is fantastic music for studying. I doubt I'll ever revisit it, but I enjoyed it for a first listen.
~In the Discord channel, I said that Carrie Underwood's Cry Pretty was my 2nd favorite album of the year, behind Voicenotes. I stand by that statement. I think that her vocals really shine here. There are no features here (not counting Ludacris on The Champion, as that is just a bonus track), but I don't have any problem with that. In fact, I'm glad that no one was shooed in as a feature credit on this. Easily the best part of this whole album is the lyrically content. She sings about things such as a wife dealing with an alcoholic husband and mass shootings. I am very glad that this debuted at the top spot, and I'm hoping it can stick around a bit longer.

(International charts won't be a weekly thing, but I'll do them on occasion. Not this week though)
I will mention about "Tequila" and "Meant to Be" in both Montavis' Hits 1 blog and My own blog
