New Entrants
~Only one new song this week. It comes from DJ Khaled and lots of other artists with I'm Th- I mean No Brainer. This is just a rehash of his last collab with these same artists, but it's not quite as good. Justin Bieber does a good job on the chorus, but I don't love his verse. Quavo does typical Quavo things and auto-tune raps, which I frankly don't mind as much as some do. Chance The Rapper delivers what is a pretty weak verse for him, but for a guest verse on a DJ Khaled song it's good. But there's something keeping it from being truly great. Though removing Lil Wayne didn't hurt.

Hit-Bound

  • Clean Bandit/Demi Lovato - Solo
  • Walk The Moon - Kamikaze
  • Zedd/Elley Duhé - Happy Now
  • Anne-Marie - 2002
  • Marshmello/Bastille - Happier
  • Bryce Vine - Drew Barrymore
  • Jason Derulo & David Guetta/Nicki Minaj/Willy William - Goodbye (DEBUT)
  • Sabrina Carpenter - Almost Love
  • The Vamps - Just My Type
  • AJR - Burn The House Down
  • Calvin Harris/Sam Smith - Promises
  • NF - Lie
  • LSD - Thunderclouds
  • Bazzi/Camila Cabello - Beautiful
  • The Struts/Kesha - Body Talks (DEBUT)
~I like Goodbye enough for now. The overall song is very catchy, especially that chorus. I've heard people say that the chorus is too processed, but I don't mind that. Jason Derulo does a great job on his verse, as does Willy William. Which brings up the fact that oh my God Hits 1 didn't edit a Spanish verse out. This is a very good thing. My only problem with the song is Nicki's verse as she delivers nothing special. But I do really like this song.

~Body Talks is extremely catchy. The lead singer of The Struts and Kesha have really good chemistry. More on this if it makes it to the countdown.

~Though I have lots of songs in green, there's only three that I really like. I kinda just put two random songs as my #4 and #5.

My Top 5 Hit-Bound Picks
1. LSD - Thunderclouds
2. Anne-Marie - 2002
3. Bazzi/Camila Cabello - Beautiful
4. Jason Derulo & David Guetta/Nicki Minaj/Willy William - Goodbye
5. The Struts/Kesha - Body Talks

Body Blurbs
~I'm happy to see Love Lies in the top 10, making it Khalid's first top ten song here. While I would have prefered Young, Dumb & Broke there, or Location even making Hits 1, I'll still take this. Khalid's debut album was really fantastic, with the standout easily being Angels (listen to this song it's amazing). While Love Lies doesn't quite top that, I do really like the song.

~Hits 1. Why do you love underrating popular songs? I Like It should not be dropping 20 spots. It should be in the top 10.

~As far as our debuts from last week go, Shotgun only went up one spot, showing that it will likely flop. Call Me Sir infuriatingly went up 5 spots. I really struggle to see the appeal of this song in the slightest. Top Down also took a decent jump, as did Nevermind. I'm happy with both of these, especially the later. God is a woman is the only song to drop, sadly. Annoyingly, Africa had the biggest jump of the week. This one's looking like it'll be here for a while. And I'm not okay with that. Lastly, The Way I Am made it to the top 20. I hope Hits 1 treats this song as well as they've treated Puth's other songs, even if it's not quite as good.

~We only lost song this week, in Let You Be Right. Though some here are very saddened by this, I am not. The song had faded on me so I don't care about it leaving.

~I Wanna Know really shouldn't be here anymore. This never even charted anywhere else, let alone multiple weeks in the top 10 and a really long stay in the top 20.

~Whatever It Takes and Say Amen need to leave the top 10 now.

  1. Great post!

I Like It is in the Bottom 5 because literally no one likes the radio edit.

Good Time is my favourite of the summer throwbacks as well.
