New Entrants
~Most of the debuts this week were pretty good so I guess we'll go from lowest to highest. Debuting at #40 we have The Struts making their first countdown appearance along with Hits 1 favorite Kesha. I do really like the lead singer of The Struts's voice, and Kesha sounds very good as always. That screechy-yell courtesy of Kesha at the end is kinda weird though. Aside from that, very good vocals. The production is pretty good, but the lyrics do leave something to be desired. Most of the lyrics are made up of poorly written suggestive metaphors. The vocals save it enough, and I guess it's still pretty good. I doubt it'll last here though.
~After Jumpsuit was a huge flop, Twenty One Pilots seemed like they wouldn't be getting a hit this album cycle. Then once. Trench dropped, My Blood got sent to pop radio, and now it's on the countdown because Hits 1 LOVES themselves some Twenty One Pilots. And the song itself is pretty solid. Tyler Joseph sounds decent, though I'm not huge on his voice overall. The lyrics are typical Twenty One Pilots nonsense. But easily the best part is that baseline. It's so great and really fits the song. Seeing as Hits 1 has fallen back in love with Twenty One Pilots, I expect this song to have quite a bit of success here.
~Next up we have a huge international hit in Jackie Chan. I don't love this song quite as much as I did when it first debuted onto Hit-Bound, though I still enjoy it quite a bit. I think that both Preme and Post Malone sound really good, and even if the lyrics are pretty mediocre they don't really drag the song down that much. Tiësto does a great job on the production, especially the beat drop. It hits really hard and just sounds great. I hope this does pretty well here,
~This week we have the return of Pitbull, bringing along Ke$ha for their new single Tim-. Or is he bringing Ne-Yo for a party anthem called Time of Our.... No not that one. Perhaps Christina Aguleira is here with Pitbull for a messy EDM song known as Feel This Moment? Maybe it's just Pitbull going solo for a Men In Black theme song called Back In Time??? No, he actually brings along newcomer and terrible singer Theron Theron in Free Free Free. So basically this song is just boring, generic Pitbull. The beat is dull, and Theron Theron is an absolutely terrible singer. I hope this does poorly.
~Next up we have easily one of my favorite songs of the entire year. benny blanco has worked behind the scenes on quite a few projects I've enjoyed, and he does a very good job here. Khalid sounds fantastic. While I've enjoyed most of his work, I do tend to prefer his DJ collabs, and this is no different. Halsey actually sounds really good, and much better than she does on certain other songs. Its almost year-end list season, and I'll definitely be talking about this song then, so I'll save some of my thoughts for then.

Best Debut of the Week: benny blanco/Halsey/Khalid - Eastside (#27)
Hit-Bound
- Little Mix/Nicki Minaj - Woman Like Me
- Alec Benjamin - Let Me Down Slowly
- Post Malone/Swae Lee - Sunflower
- Twenty One Pilots - Chlorine (DEBUT)
- Ariana Grande - breathin
- Lauv/Julia Michaels - There's No Way
- 5 Seconds of Summer - Killer Queen (DEBUT)
- Camila Cabello - Consequences
- Alex Aino - Big Mistake
- Ellie Goulding & Diplo/Swae Lee - Close To Me (DEBUT)
- Shawn Mendes - Nervous
- David Guetta/Anne-Marie - Don't Leave Me Alone
- Steve Aoki/BTS - Waste It On Me
~Replacing Legend, Twenty One Pilots bring us Chlorine. I believe this is only here because people want TOP to perform this on their tour, and since Hits 1 are hardcore members of the clique, of course they'd pick this up. On to the song itself, Tyler Joseph sounds like shit and the lyrics are nonsense. Except for a couple lines. Joseph talks about how the beat is a chemical, which yeah the beat is nauseating and awful. Let's not have this become a thing.
~Hits 1 really loves their covers huh. When Zombie left the countdown, Africa debuted onto Hit-Bound. And now that Africa has left the countdown, Killer Queen debuts here. This is obviously a huge step down from the original, 5SOS totally destroys a classic song, and basically everything about this sucks. More on this if it debuts.
~Ellie Goulding is finally back! And safe to say, this new single is great. She sounds really good, and Swae Lee sounds really good here as well. Swae is slowly becoming one of my favorite singers, as he's finally learned how to properly use his voice. Diplo did a nice job on the production.
My Top 5 Hit-Bound Picks
1. Post Malone/Swae Lee - Sunflower
2. Ellie Goulding & Diplo/Swae Lee - Close To Me
3. Camila Cabello - Consequences
4. Ariana Grande - breathin
5. David Guetta/Anne-Marie - Don't Leave Me Alone
My Bottom 5 Hit-Bound Picks

2. Lauv/Julia Michaels - There's No Way
3. 5 Seconds of Summer - Killer Queen
4. Alec Benjamin - Let Me Down Slowly
5. Shawn Mendes - Nervous
My Blurbs
~In terms of our exits, both Better Now and One Kiss had decent runs, but they're both going to just miss the year-end list. Africa sucked and deserved to leave. Just My Type was good, and it's too bad that it flopped. Lastly, I'll Never Love Again spent only one week on the countdown, and I can't say I'm all that sad about it. The song was just god damn boring.
~Bohemian Rhapsody was played during the countdown as an extra due to the Queen movie being released. I absolutely love this song, so I'm really glad that it got played!
~Two of Hits 1's favorites, Halsey and Walk The Moon, both took jumps into the top 20. I can't say I'm really enjoying either song, but Without Me is so much worse. It's already a huge hit, and it's almost guaranteed to hit #1 here because "omg Halsey".
~We got five new entrants to the bottom five. Lucid Dreams was never destined to do well here, and I'm not heartbroken about it flopping. In My Blood finally seems like it's dying out here, and I couldn't be happier about it. That song was never all that good, and now it's just old. Lastly, Happy Now took a major drop from the top 10 all the way into the bottom 5. The song itself is very mediocre and quite overrated by some people. I'd like it to leave next week.
~It's a shame that Body is flopping here. If this is really supposed to be the "45 Biggest Songs in North America", then one of the biggest Canadian hits of the year should be doing much better.
~2002 really shouldn't be entering the top 10. The song is fading on me, and it's already flopped everywhere else. I really don't see this lasting very high, and wouldn't be shocked if it took a Happy Now style drop soon.
~That jump for Tequila really didn't last. Not that I'm complaining. What I am complaining about is the worst Voicenotes single being back in the top 20. I only consider this song to be decent now. Speaking of things that didn't last, God is a woman is back outside the top 10. While it is a hit elsewhere, I much prefer breathin as well as her new single thank you, next.
~Since Hits 1 loves them, Imagine Dragons hit #1 with a single that's dying out elsewhere in Natural. I'm hoping this song doesn't act like Whatever It Takes and hang around forever, but I'm worried it could.
