Hi everyone. We have lots of Lil Wayne to talk about today. And since this is basically the one unique thing about my blog, I spent a lot of time trying to make this post as good as possible. Let's just start things off with the Hot 100:
Hot 100
Out of the top 20:
40. Lil Peep & XXXTENTACION - Falling Down (#13) [-27]
34. Eminem - Killshot (#5) [-29]
30. DJ Khaled/Justin Bieber/Quavo/Chance The Rapper - No Brainer (#17) [-13]

22. Selena Gomez - Back To You (#19) [-3]
21. Ariana Grande - God is a woman (#20) [-1]
20. Ella Mai - Trip (#18) [-2]
19. Imagine Dragons - Natural (#14) [-5]
18. Kanye West & Lil Pump/Adele Givens - I Love It (#9) [-9]
17. Lil Wayne - Can't Be Broken (DEBUT)
16. Khalid/Normani - Love Lies (#12) [-4]
15. Tyga/Offset - Taste (#11) [-4]
14. Lil Wayne - Dedicate (DEBUT)

12. 6ix9ine/Nicki Minaj/Murda Beatz - FEFE (#8) [-4]
11. Cardi B/Bad Bunny/J Balvin - I Like It (#7) [-4] {1 Week At #1}
10. Lil Wayne/Travis Scott - Let It Fly (DEBUT)
9. Drake - In My Feelings (#4) [-5] {10 Weeks At #1}
8. 5 Seconds of Summer - Youngblood (#10) [+2]
7. Lil Wayne - Uproar (DEBUT)
6. Travis Scott - SICKO MODE (#6) [=]
5. Lil Wayne/XXXTENTACION - Don't Cry (DEBUT)
4. Post Malone - Better Now (#3) [-1]
3. Juice WRLD - Lucid Dreams (#2) [-1]
2. Lil Wayne/Kendrick Lamar - Mona Lisa (DEBUT)
1. Maroon 5/Cardi B - Girls Like You (#1) [=] {3rd Week At #1}
~Let's start with the highest of any of our Wayne songs. Mona Lisa is very far from being a good song. Wayne just does not sound good here at all. He is way too high pitched, and I don't like his stuttered flow. The lyrics are no different than any other rap song these days. Also, the song is almost six minutes long. The production is all that special, but it's not terrible. As with quite a few songs on the album, the guest verse stops me from absolutely hating this. In fact, Kendrick is literally the only reason I can tolerate this. If it weren't from him, this would suck even more. I'm very glad this didn't debut at #1.
~Copy/paste everything I said about Wayne in that last review, except the beat sucks here and XXXTENTACION is unlistenable. Can we like stop sampling X at this point? I mean, I get why it keeps happening, but it really shouldn't be.
~Uproar is the only song on Tha Carter V that I would consider great. Most of this is due to it being very well produced. Seriously, the beat here is one the better ones I've heard in a rap song recently. Wayne still does not sound very good, but he doesn't get all squeaky and high-pitched here which already makes it better than the other two. If any songs from this album bomb stick around, I hope it's this one.
~Ok I don't really have all that much new to say on Let It Fly. The beat is very basic, Wayne doesn't sound good, etc. The interesting thing to discuss here is Travis Scott. I was a fan of ASTROWORLD, but he does not bring his A-game here. Part of the reason I like ASTROWORLD was because I thought his autotune and the beats blended together well. That is not the case here. He sounds so processed, it really prevents me from focusing on anything else in the song. And then Wayne claims he's the greatest rapper of all time here. Just no.
~I like the beat on Dedicate quite a bit honestly. If only Wayne's rapping skills matched it. The pitch shifted vocals on Can't Be Broken are quite grating to listen to, and the rest of the song isn't special at all.
~As far as the songs that fell out of the top 20, Killshot and Falling Down will continue to crash hard. No Brainer will be on a slow decline, but will still decline. Nonstop, God is a woman, and Back To You are all almost guaranteed to come back into the top 20 soon.
~One other thing I'd like to touch on are the three songs that went recurrent this week. The first was Nice For What, my favorite from Drake this year. It'll likely be top 10 on the year end list. We also lost our likely top two of the year: Perfect and God's Plan. I would much prefer God's Plan to be our year-end #1, as it better represents the year in music and is frankly just a better song. We will see what happens in a little over a month.
Billboard 200
Out of the top 10:
88. BROCKHAMPTON - iridescence (#1) [-87] {1 Week At #1}
28. Josh Groban - Bridges (#2) [-26]
18. Carrie Underwood- Cry Pretty (#7) [-11] {1 Week At #1} :(
15. Lauren Daigle - Look Up Child (#9) [-6]
12. Ariana Grande - Sweetener (#12) [-2] {1 Week At #1}
11. Juice WRLD - Goodbye & Good Riddance (#8) [-3]
10. XXXTENTACION - ? (#14) [+4] {1 Week At #1}
9. Tom Petty - An American Treasure (DEBUT)
8. Post Malone - beerbongs & bentleys (#6) [-2] {3 Weeks At #1}
7. Travis Scott - ASTROWORLD (#5) [-2] {2 Weeks At #1}
6. Eminem - Kamikaze (#3) [-3] {1 Week At #1}
5. Drake - Scorpion (#4) [-1] {5 Weeks At #1}
4. Kevin Gates - Luca Brasi 3 (DEBUT)
3. Cher - Dancing Queen (DEBUT)
2. Logic - YSIV (DEBUT)
1. Lil Wayne - Tha Carter V (DEBUT) {1st Week At #1}
~Ugh why did ? have to come back. I thought we were done with this album.
~I honestly expected to hate Tha Carter V a lot more than I do. I really don't mind it all that much. In terms of rapping ability, Lil Wayne actually does a decent job here. I know, I never thought I'd be saying that either. The beats aren't exactly good, but they're not terrible either. The lyrics are just generic rap music, which isn't exactly surprising. And there's some decent guest features. But the album is overly long and the songs blend together way too much for me to say that this is anything but mediocre. Also, no Wayne, you are not the greatest rapper of all time.
~Next up, we have Logic bringing us the fourth and final installation in his Young Sinatra series of albums. The production here is very underwhelming. Most of the beats sound exactly the same, and they have absolutely no life to them. I do think that Logic's bars are pretty solid for the most part on this album, however listening to hi0m the whole time can get a little boring. So how about the guest features? They suck. Ryan Tedder sounds very annoying on One Day, Hailee Steinfeld has a completely wasted feature, and The Wu-Tang Clan feel like that they're there just as a gimmick. Also, no Logic, you are not the greatest rapper of all time.
~Debuting at #3, we have Cher with Dancing Queen, an ABBA cover album. Honestly, my biggest problem with this album is Cher herself. I don't think her voice suits this type of music particularly well. However, the production is very good and overall the album is catchy and an enjoyable listen, but I don't give any of the credit for that to Cher. The best parts of this album are the parts that were already made in the 1970s and 80s. So while I may have just complained about the album, I enjoyed listening to it enough. If you like ABBA, it's worth checking out. Also, my favorite ABBA song wasn't on the album. Why do you have to be like this, Cher?
~I only listened to five tracks off of Kevin Gates's new album. And I was not a fan. I don't really see the appeal of this guy as a rapper. There really isn't anything special about him compared to other rappers these days. His flow is clunky, he overuses auto-tune at times, his production consists of nothing but basic trap beats, and I can't understand anything he's saying. Skip this.
~Tom Petty has a posthumous release in An American Treasure which is basically just a compilation of remastered songs and live performances. Oh, it's also four hours long. I obviously didn't listen to the entire thing. From what I did hear, this is nothing special and most of this is nowhere near Petty's best work. Along with the fact that this was released purely for label profit, it just leaves a sour taste in my mouth after listening to it. It's only saved by the raw talent of Tom Petty. (Also why was no version of Free Fallin included???)
~So in terms of our top 10 dropouts, Sweetener and Goodbye & Good Riddance will probably be back in the top 10 next week. Look Up Child (yay) and Cry Pretty (damn it) seem to be on a permanent decline. Bridges was bound to crash hard, and iridescence fell much harder than I thought it would. Not complaining though.
Artist 100
Out of the top 10:
OUT. BROCKHAMPTON (#3)
48. Josh Groban (#2) [-46]
12. Travis Scott (#8) [-4] {2 Weeks At #1}
10. Ariana Grande (#9) [-1] {3 Weeks At #1}
9. XXXTENTACION (#10) [+1] {2 Weeks At #1}
8. Post Malone (#6) [-2] {2 Weeks At #1}
7. Imagine Dragons (#5) [-2] {1 Week At #1}
6. Eminem (#1) [-5] {2 Weeks At #1}
5. Drake (#4) [-1] {31 Weeks At #1}
4. BTS (#7) [+3] {2 Weeks At #1}
3. Logic (RE-ENTRY) {1 Week At #1}
2. Cher (DEBUT)
1. Lil Wayne (RE-ENTRY) {1st Week At #1}
~In the least shocking thing this week, Lil Wayne is #1 here.
~I'm a little surprised that Cher is only just now debuting on the chart. I would've thought that she'd have been here before.
~Worst and best week are very easy this week. Best goes to Lil Wayne because he totally dominated this week. Worst goes to Logic for really failing to gain any traction on the Hot 100 with any of his songs. Anyways, we've got Lil Baby & Gunna to "look forward" to next week. Hopefully they aren't as successful as Wayne was this week.
Genre Charts
For these genre chart blurbs, I'm assuming now that Lil Wayne is suddenly back in the public eye, he will be featured on many songs throughout many different genres. I've tried to come up with what some of these songs may be.
Mainstream Top 40:
5. Selena Gomez - Back To You (#5) [=]
4. Khalid/Normani - Love Lies (#3) [-1] {2 Weeks At #1}
3. Maroon 5/Cardi B - Girls Like You (#4) [+1] {5 Weeks At #1}
2. Post Malone - Better Now (#2) [=] {2 Weeks At #1}
1. 5 Seconds of Summer - Youngblood (#1) [=] {2nd Week At #1}
~Maroon 5 is great at following trends, and they have recently become great at getting people to do guest verses for them, so I can only assume that they'll remix a song off of Red Pill Blues with Lil Wayne. I'll go with the song that has solos from each band member, as Adam Levine is worried that people will realize that there are other members and have Wayne rap over each of the instrumental solos.
Hot Rock Songs:
Out of the top 5:
OUT. Imagine Dragons - Believer (#5) [29 Weeks At #1] {!!!}
5. Weezer - Africa (#6) [+1]

~Imagine Dragons will feature Lil Wayne in a remix of Whatever It Takes, credited as Imagine Dragons/Lil Wayne - Whatever It Takes (To Get Us Both A #1 Hit).
~Finally Believer is gone. Now let's get Thunder out of here. But also ugh Africa is back.
Hot Latin Songs:
Out of the top 5:

1. DJ Snake/Selena Gomez/Ozuna/Cardi B - Taki Taki (DEBUT) {1st Week At #1}
~You thought 53 weeks at #1 for Despacito was a lot? Just wait for Luis Fonsi & Daddy Yankee/Lil Wayne - Con Rapidez and J Balvin & Willy William/Lil Wayne - Despacito 3 to each get 54 weeks.
~Esta Rico is pretty generic reggae music. I don't mind it though, it's kinda catchy. I wouldn't mind if this were at hit.
~The big debut this week it Taki Taki from DJ Snake, who I personally did not expect to see crossing over into the Latin genre. This song has grown on me a lot. I think that all artists involved bring something unique to the table here, and they all work together well. I hope this can become a decent sized hit.

~Tiësto & Dzeko/Lil Wayne/XXXTENTACION - Tom Cruise. The jokes really write themselves this week.
~I don't really consider Taki Taki to be EDM. Whatever, it's not really my choice.
~If This Feeling could come back that would be nice.

6. Kane Brown - Heaven (#5) [-1]

1. Bebe Rexha/Florida Georgia Line - Meant To Be (#1) [=] {45th Week At #1}
~Florida Georgia Line/Lil Wayne - Simple (Remix). I mean, they did it with Cruise and Nelly.
~Blue Tacoma really doesn't feel all that special. It feels like I've already heard this song like twenty times before, even though this was my first time listening to it.
