Weezer (1) - Alt-8 Week of 6/9/18

Hi everyone. This was a pretty good week for the Alt-8, aside from one of our debuts. We lost a couple of good songs, however. Once again, I'll give my thoughts on each of these songs for my first post. Another thing you should know: I much prefer alt-rock than I do to hard rock. I find that it has more variety and it's just overall a better genre. Anyways, here are this week's exits:

  • Mike Shinoda - Crossing A Line (#7) {2 Weeks At #1}
  • Andrew McMahon In The Wilderness - Ohio (#6)
  • Alice Merton - Lash Out (#3)

Last Weeks #1 Song: Bastille - Quarter Past Midnight (2)
8. King Princess - 1950 (RE-ENTRY)
7. CHVRCHES - Miracle (#2) [-5]
6. AJR - Burn The House Down (DEBUT)
5. LSD - Genius (#4) [-1]
4. Florence + The Machine - Hunger (#8) [+4]
3. Bastille - Quarter Past Midnight (#1) [-2] {2 Weeks At #1}
2. Arctic Monkeys - Four Out Of Five (#5) [+3]
1. Weezer - Africa (DEBUT) {1st Week At #1}

Brief Thoughts On Every Song:
~Starting with our exits, Crossing A Line was a really great song and I'm glad it spent some time at #1. As far as Ohio went, I liked it as a chill song, but I was going to get sick of it quickly. And lastly, I'm very glad Lash Out left us. I'm still not a fan of Alice Merton. However, I see this re-entering very soon.

~I like 1950 for what it is. King Princess's voice leaves something to be desired, but the production is pretty fun. I don't see it lasting with me in the long run.

~Miracle doesn't really do much for me. It's ok I guess. And with Hunger, I just don't feel anything while listening to it. I also think the lyrics are a little weird.

~Oh man. AJR is back. I've already said my piece on them. They have absolutely no talent. Burn The House Down is better than Sober Up, but I still don't enjoy it. I don't see my thoughts on this one changing in the long run.

~Is it odd to see Diplo and Sia on the Alt-8? Yes. But that doesn't matter to me in the slightest. I love Sia's voice on this track, and the production is also very good. I think the lyrics are pretty good also. I hope this hits #1 soon, but I unfortunately doubt it.

~Quarter Past Midnight is a very fun song. It always puts me in a good mood. I'm glad that Bastille could have another hit after Pompeii back in 2014. Four Out Of Five is good, but not great. I think the lyrics are a little weird.

~And now it's time for our new #1. Similar to Bad Wolves - Zombie on the Weekend Countdown, we have another older cover. However, this one is much better. Africa is a very enjoyable song, and I think Weezer does a good job covering it. I'm not sure I want this to stay at #1, but I'm fine if it does.
