So I haven't really talked that much about the Hot 100 outside of the top 20 here...ever? So let's do that.
Any chart positions reference the 8/24/19 chart.
Without Me by Halsey is currently #25. I'd really like it if this song went the fuck away please and thank you.
BOOOOOOTS NEED KNOCKIN
I honestly thought Baby by Lil Baby and DaBaby was a joke when I first saw the title/artists. But apparently it's gonna be a hit. Imma be honest: I don't even remotely remember what this sounds like. However, I take issue with the fact that we've gotten to the point where we don't even bat an eyelash at two people willingly calling themselves babies and making a song called Baby.
Panini by Lil Nas X fell 5 spots this week. I think this song will be a hit, but I also think it will be Lil Nas X's last hit. Old Town Road isn't exactly the type of song you get a bunch of big follow up singles from.
Cash Shit by Megan Thee Stallion ft. DaBaby is an absolute BOP. This song is such a jam and it NEEDS to be hit. Please make this happen.
I still haven't bothered to listen to Shotta (Shoota?) Flow. I don't think I ever will unless it makes year end. If it does make year end, I think it will be the least eventful song to do so. Like even fucking Envy Me by Calboy had it's own like weekly segment on the podcast (here's my shamless plug for our latest episode. it's good shit. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B0skFpcW4DQ. also if anyone knows how to get an RSS feed hmu)
Hey look some probably really bad Latin songs are hanging out in the 40-50 area of the Hot 100. Does anyone care? Nahhhhh
Ok I'm gonna be totally honest I had no idea Better was still on the Hot 100. Due to all the buzz around Talk becoming Khalid's biggest hit I think we all forgot how massive this song was.
One Thing Right and Trampoline suddenly got into the top 50. One is fairly welcome, the other is most certainly not. Take a wild guess as to which is which.
Holy SHIT Going Bad is still here.
So am I supposed to pretend Descendants matters? I have not listened to this Queen of Mean song and I do not plan to. I give it three more weeks on the hot 100 tops.
I coulda sworn Easier was like in the 30s, not the 50s. Fucking Hits 1 brainwashing me.
Talk You Out of It is really gonna make the year end with a #57 peak. The song itself is...douchey? Like very, very douchey. But hey, it's FGL, what else would I expect from my 2nd favorite album review I've ever done.
I thought Press left the Hot 100 months ago. I still find the chorus to be one of the most amazingly awful things I've ever heard.
PRESS PRESS PRESS PRESS PRESS
CARDI DON'T NEED MORE PRESS
It's so hard to distinguish between genius and stupidity sometimes. Hell, Vincent Van Gough wasn't that appreciated in his time, maybe in like 100 years everyone will think Cardi B is some sort of lyrical genius. But probably not.
Guys please please please don't give NF another hit. I might not have the room on my worst list.
Can I be perfectly honest? I really don't like Southbound by Carrie Underwood. I dug a lot of her last album, but the more I listen to this song the more it annoys me. Why couldn't Cry Pretty have been the mildly successful single that will ultimately end up flopping anyways?
Lalala by Y2K & bbno$ needs to smash already. It's one the most ridiculous things I've ever heard in music and I love every second of it.
If Hate Me could not be bigger than Close to Me that would be much appreciated.
DON'T LEAVE (the hot 100 since you aren't locked for YE yet)
IT'S MY FAULT
Sadly Small Talk is probably the closest we'll get to Charlie Puth on the Hot 100 this year, as I Warned Myself is not doing too hot.
If Right Back were a hit that'd be cool. Especially since it's one of the only remotely interesting songs on the snooze fest that was Free Spirit.
Alright, I think the one song I want to be a hit more than any other right now is Single Again by Big Sean. It's lyrically great, Big Sean finally figured out how to be a good non corny rapper, and the production is really good. Great job, Big Sean, you finally won me over. Now please make this a smash.
Also I know it's not on the Hot 100 but Love Me Less is #1 on bubbling under and the song is terrible so can we please not make it a Lights Down Low-esque slow building hit thaaaaaanks
"BOOOOOOTS NEED KNOCKIN" lol. Great post. Just one question. Where did callout scores go? 😢
ReplyDeleteIt seemed like people (myself included) were getting tired of them - I may bring them back in the future
Deletealso I just don’t have the time during the school year for them haha
